CG, Ice Patrol pay tribute to the Greenland Patrols
The Coast Guard and the International Ice Patrol will be paying tribute Monday, June 6, to the Greenland Patrol. STORIS was nationally significant for her role in this critically important and largely overlooked part of the Allied War Effort. STORIS was built specifically for this duty and this was a major part of her historic significance on a national level. When nominated in 2012 for listing on the National Register of Historic Places, STORIS was the very last Greenland Patrol unit to exist in military configuration.
